Hi Guys,
In behalf of Tony i type our Moalboal Story..
Congratulations to those guys supporting the club and playing in Cebu's first Beach Soccer Tournament last weekend and brought home a trophy.
The team put on an awsome display in the qualifying league, winning all 5 games and running out as league winner with 15 points and 22:6 goals. There were so many positive performances that it would be unfair to name any single player. In the front line were scoring at will, our backs were marshalling their area and our goal keeper was commanding in the goalmouth.
So we went in to the semifinal with confidence; sure by this time we had a couple of "walking wounded", but the team had been playing well as a unit and it was an exciting game against San Roque. There were chances at both ends with shots on the bar and posts. So it was that as the final whistle went the score stood 2: 2 and the game moved in to penalties.
Everybody know what happend..as it happend always.. we lost the shootout as it seems to be a repetitive occurrence.
Going into the the match for the 3th place, were several bruised, injured and tired players who lifted there game for the last time and cruised to an 3:2 victory. The Tournament going to San Roque beating Queen City 1:0, scoring 12 sec. before the end of the match.
So what was our impressions ? we lost only again on penalties, that was heartbreaking but up to that point as a team we had played the most entertaining football of all competitors.
What we learned again from this tournament.. that we need a full team. Already only 9 player at the start after the first game we was down to 8 player. the 3th and 4th match we was only 7 player. Playing the semifinal shortly after our last league match with only 8 player, of course we was exhausted.
The event was well organized keeping to schedule, beeing well managed and above all lots of fun. This is something we need to support next year.
Congratulations to the team of San Roque and the organizer from Bon Bosco.
