manila line up

i would suggest that we play with 4 defender and 2 forwarder, we dont need midfielder because the field is small and we should aviod to receive any goal. in the front we can always score 1 or 2 out of a counter. as a said i would prefer to form 2 teams and they play always a full have time with full force.
the 2 line ups could be as follow...any other mix is possible..open for discussion.
goal: simon
defender: holger, otto,conor,ricardo
forwarder: heiko, franz
other team
goal:simon
defender: angelo,tony,conor,attila
forwarder:panny, nicholas

as we only have 11 fieldplayer there must be 1 player who plays a full time match. in my first line up this would be conor the british war-horse, in the next match it can be heiko if the chinise dont get all his power and in the last match we have to select another one.
about the goalkeeper, also angelo, ricardo or me can play in the goal to let simon also run ..
as i said its open for discussion and we should meet after nov. 6 and before the tournament.
see you tomorrow

Some suggestions from a former winning coach!

With the assumed seven field-players of the Manila tournament (including keeper) the team can follow a few formations (2-2-2, 2-1-3, 3-1-2 and 3-3). As former tournaments have always shown that it is very important to avoid any scoring by the opponents, the way to go seems to adopt a more conservative formation (3-1-2 or 3-3). With the given qualities of the XP players and the latest chaotic discussion during the XP meeting fresh on our mind it is strongly proposed to play 3-1-2 and to start making arrangements. To stimulate the thinking process, please find below some blunt suggestions for line-up possibilities (players and coach!). Rather than forming two parallel substituting teams to guarantee that everybody will play (which should be the starting point!) it is strongly advised to have a coach (dominant and with insight) decide on required substitutions and approach, following the possible positions of his resources and considering the actual situation on the field.
E.g.
Goalkeeper (Simon, Ricardo)
Left fullback (Tony, Angelo, Ricardo, Attila)
Right fullback (Attila, Otto, Angelo, Holger)
Center fullback (Holger, Heiko, Conor)
Center halfback (Panny, Nicholas, Heiko)
Right forward (Franz, Otto, Panny)
Left forward (Nicholas, Franz, Tony, Conor)
Coach (Otto, Heiko, Conor)
Pls note that every player is only considered for two positions and line-up is very flexible!

Finally, just consider this proposed approach as an attempt by your vice-chairman to demonstrate some leadership (assuring everybody can play in an organized way!), to trigger the preparations and to use our weblog for what it is meant, namely to start a discussion among the group on how to implement the above.
To be commented!!!!!!!!

Although winning is only a minor part of the fun, the ones who stay at home expect a trophy of course!

Saturday 3.30 pm TIMEX; Wednesday 7.30 pm Shangri-la

Today, a new list of players has been forwarded to the TIMEX guards. In case something may go wrong, please refer to or contact 'Mr. Robert Oliver - President and CEO of TIMEX' (or simply Bob!), as I will be out for the weekend. When your name is not on the list just point to any of the five nominated guest players (that did not show up yet) at the bottom of the form.

Please let me know (through replying to this blog) whether you will be interested in playing futsal next week Wednesday (7.30 pm) at Shangri-La (in the absence of Otto I'll try to make the arrangements). Please note that you do not have to confirm for Saturday!!!!!

Monthly Meeting October 15th, 2005

Minutes of October 2005

Attendance: Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Simon, Pieter, Nicolas, Flemming, Panny (Members)

Please accept the Secretaries apologise for the lateness of the minutes, but unfortunately I had problems with my laptop which took the HP Service Centre an eternity to resolve (as always).

1. Communication. The continuing saga into the most appropriate way of communicating to team members was again a hot topic. Albert conducted a ‘quick & dirty’ piece of work demonstrating where people were picking-up information. After reviewing this work it was agreed, that for a trial one month period, no further text messages would be sent to members and that all club information would be posted on the Blog. There would be one exception to the rule, which would be the Wednesday Futsal game at the Shang that Otto would communicate via text and blog.
2. Starting Times. Attila suggested, due to darkness arriving earlier, that we started our Saturday games slightly earlier than the original 4pm. It was passed as a sensible and worthwhile suggestion and the games on a Saturday, held at Timex, will now start at 3.30pm
3. Charity Activity. Pieter has negotiated for the release of second-hand football boots from his native Country and was looking for how this could be tied into good publicity and good processes within the club e.g. ensuring boots go to those who will best utilise them! It was agreed that Pieter would conduct further research and come back to the next meeting with recommendations.
4. Nets for the Timex goals. It was noted that SM held stocks of nets for goal-mouths and that we were in need. Otto agreed to investigate costs and if under P3000 would purchase without further authorisation.
5. Club membership for life. The following was proposed with comments appreciated for review at the next meeting.
a You must be leaving the Country (and organise a farewell party)
b You must have been an active and respected player for at least one year
c You must have contributed significantly to the ‘well-being’ of the XP Club
d Gain approval by those present at the monthly meeting
Lifetime membership would give you:
a Honourable listing on the clubs weblog
b Full access to all club resources
c Free playing during ‘show-ups’

6. Manila Tournament. Two teams were put together that would evenly split players according to ability and positional play. Otto will place the teams onto the Blog. It was agreed that each team would play an equal half thus allowing all players to participate in the tournament fully and equally. It was also agreed, where possible, that the players going to Manila would play together on a Saturday, at Timex, to help them acclimatise to each other and there positions. Simon has booked the hotels with the exception of 2 players; he will capture the booking on the Blog. Each player is responsible for his own flight booking.
7. Future club outings. After a very successful outing, hosted by Franz, it was agreed that Otto and Franz would organise the next event for after the Manila tournament. Further details to follow.
8. Treasures Report. We have P9,095 in the club accounts plus P4,200 open. We recently purchased goals, footballs and a leaving present for Daniele. Future spending proposed for nets. 2006 will see an increase of membership to P150.
9. Xmas. Christmas is fast approaching so it was agreed that Panny and Angelo would be responsible for organising the XP ‘Christmas Celebration 2005’. More details to follow.
10. Thirsty Cup. Albert has items from the Thirsty Cup that he will give to Horst for the ‘XP Lounge’. Any other memorabilia that people have should be denoted to Horst.

The meeting closed at 10.08pm.

This Sunday (October 9), if weather permits, Franz invites us (and family) on his new 'boat' for a trip to Cabilao.
Idea is to have lunch at Franz' resort. This trip offers possibilities for swimming / snorkeling. See their website for more details on Cabilao (www.polaris-dive.com) . We will depart Sunday at 8.30 am from Hadsan, Mactan.

As the boat can accommodate some 25 - 30 people, it will be on a first come first serve basis.
