Attendance: Horst (Chairman), Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager) Tony (Secretary), Flemming, Peter, Simon, Conner & Panni
Meeting commenced 8.46pm at Café Theatro, Crossroads.
It was noted that a large contingency of people attending this meeting was English. It was felt that this could only be beneficial to the club adding an air of sophistication and professionalism to the proceedings (This might just be my own opinion).
1. ‘Metro Sports’ is a relatively new and expanding sports centre that has developed a ‘Futsal Pitch’. It is located next to the Sunflower night club and originally catered solely for the badminton enthusiasts. It was agreed that Connor would secure a football pitch, if available, for this Wednesday 20th July, 8pm, for a 1 hour slot. It was felt that this was sufficient to test out the facility and form an opinion if it was something we would like to continue with. As we will only have a 1 hour game it is important that any player wishing to participate is prompt. More details to follow if the booking is successful.
2. ‘Don Bosco Dads’. One of the leading lights of DBD’s is/will be living in Beverly Hills and has decided to build a floodlit football pitch in his back-garden that he will rent out to local football teams. We will keep this information on our radar. Horst will also be talking to DBD’s in an attempt to organise a football match. In addition whilst Horst was networking with DBD’s they mentioned a group of Financer’s, based in Manila, who want to visit Cebu and play a game of football at the same time. Again Horst will try to arrange.
3. Connor has agreed to ring Rudolf in Manila to gain further information on the ‘Expat World Football Championships’ to be played in Makati. This is a 7-a-side game, for over 35’s played November each year.
4. We talked about having our own pitch again but general opinion was that this would not be a realistic goal. It was understood that the Timex facility might be ready for late August/September and that most people believed this pitch felt like the home of Expat football here in Cebu.
5. Heiko will be back in Cebu on the 28th July. Albert will try and organise a match against the Lear Team whilst Peter tries to secure the pitch at CIS for the 30th July. After the match we would like players to meet-up at Café Theatro, Crossroads for some drinks with Heiko before moving onto the Arena, an upmarket bar based near the port with some exceptionally ‘fine women’. We have been led to believe, by a source close to the action, that the dancing is beautifully choreographed.
6. The Finance Manager ended the night informing us that the club had P9,567 in the bank. There was a continued debate about absent players and those players not paying there dues. A general agreement to continue ‘as is’ was made with the feeling that P100’s a month was not detrimental to anyone’s financial healthcare.
The meeting concluded at 9.50pm with Otto declaring his home as the venue for the next meeting in August.
