Charity

As mentioned by Albert in his very informative and to the point notes and drawings (especially the drawing about the state of the soccer team at Saturdays practice) the Charity lotto brought in the neat sum of PhP 24,630, which, not hopefully, but most certainly will do a lot of good.

A feeding of 1000 children are scheduled to take place on the Mahagaway Elementary School in Talisay on Thursday January 5. This coincides with our Dental Mission and free dental clinic on the same school on January 4, 5 and 6. Should any of you wish to help with the cooking then please contact Flemming & Elisabet for details on how to get to the Mahagway Elementary School.

A second feeding will take place the week after, so if you can't make it to the first one, maybe you have a little extra time on Wednesday January 11.

One man once asked us how we cook for 1000 people

The answer is: Big pots

Any left over funds will be used for what is called "Bundles of Joy", small shopping bags with groceries to the value 150 - 200 pesos, which will be distributed at the Pediatric Ward at the Vicente Sotto Hospital, where many small families don't have much to eat, since they have to use whatever little they do have to buy medicine to the children.

Wish you all a wonderful Christmas. See you on the 27th.

Flemming & Elisabet

Wolfgang's place

Coming tuesday afternoon, 27th of december , we shall have a get together at Wolfgang's place, which is called Haruhay Dream Resort and which is located in Marigondon, Mactan Island, near Plantation Bay.

To get there is quite easy: take the old bridge and go always straight and remain on that street until you reach Haruhay on the left side of the road. get inside and play some foot-tennis with us. Bring tennis shoes. No soccer boots, please. Showers are available. The kids can swim in the pool. Food and drinks will be prepared. Wolfgang is there waiting for us and will personally take good care of our needs. Please confirm and let us know how many we are going to be. Merry christmas to you and your families.

Minutes December

Please be updated with Tony's minutes of the last XP meeting. See links\minutes\December 2005.

XP X-mas party

XP looks back at a greatly organized, very entertaining and all together terrific Christmas party. On behalf of the team, muchos gracias Angelo, Panny and Conor! As the saying goes ‘behind every man there is a strong woman’ we would like to extend our special thanks to Sylvia and Rachel for realizing the delicious food and getting things done in time. Also thanks to all the XP-dressed supporting staff and of course all party goers.

The goal wall shooting was won by Peter who showed up late as he was still practising at www.juggernart.com/games/goalwallshooting3d/index.html
The charity raffle (with amazing gifts / donations) will hopefully do good to one of the many projects of Flemming and Elisabeth (as of now: special program for a Talisay school).

As everybody was still too impressed, the Saturday soccer game did not reveal the best ever XP play (despite running on alcohol).
Please note, there is NO more field soccer on December 24 and 31 at TIMEX this year! As of now there will only be 'foot-tennis' at the tennis court of Wolfgang on December 27. This is a family event for the afternoon.

Minutes of November meeting

Minutes of November 2005

Attendance: Horst (Chairman), Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Simon, Panni Daniel, Ricardo, Andy, Conor, Flemming (Members)

Getting slack with my responsibilities. Minutes late again! Maybe it’s time for a new and improved club secretary? Any takers?

1. Communication. It was agreed that we would continue with no further text messages being sent to members re Saturday games and that all club information would be posted on the Blog with the exception of the Wednesday Futsal game at the Shang.
2. Charity Activity. This topic was carried forward to the next meeting.
3. Nets for the Timex goals. These are currently out of stock at SM. Otto will continue to monitor the situation and report when appropriate.
4. Club membership for life. Heiko & Daniele have received the honour of ‘Club Membership for Life’ and will be immortalised within the Blog pages.
5. Future club outings. This has been cancelled until the New Year.
6. Treasures Report. We only have one outstanding payment and P13,870 in the bank. Membership for 2006 will be increased as follows.
i. P150 Monthly payment for members or P500 per quarter (paid in advance)
ii. P100 For guest players (per game)
7. Xmas. The XP Christmas Party will be on Friday 16th December, with the venue being Angelo’s house in Lahug. Panny, Angelo and Conor will be responsible for organising the entertainment whilst Otto and Horst will organise food and drink. Players joining XP before September 2005 will be free of charge. Players joining after this date will make a payment of P300. Wives and girlfriends are welcome but will also be asked to contribute P300 each. Flemming will be looking into how we can tie this event into a fund raising promotion for a needy charity.
8. Thirsty Cup. The Thirsty Cup will be held on the 8th January with a 7.30am start time! The team was selected in order for Albert to submit to the organising committee. The team will be posted on the Blog. The event, hopefully, will be held at the Ayala grounds but is open to change depending on some Korean developers. You must read the rules in advance.
9. XP Lounge. As we all know Café Theatro is the designated home of the soccer club and will be where we house any memorabilia. As such Panni has agreed to supply a display unit for those items to be secured.
10. Sandtrap. This has been offered to us as a venue for the midweek game. However, there are some concerns into the size and condition of the pitch and also lighting. It was felt that it would not meet our requirements.
11. Cebu FA have expressed an interest in forging stronger ties between both parties. This will be managed accordingly.

The meeting closed.

Tony

Saturday Soccer at 3.30 pm

See you on the TIMEX pitch to play and learn from the great soccer lessons in Manila. As I did not receive any new request for guest players I provided TIMEX with the old list.

Today I added another feature to the weblog. All new blogs posted by the system administrator (i.e. me) will be automatically forwarded to the E-mail addresses of all XP Cebu weblog contributors. This means that in case of important announcements you better request your system administrator to post it for you or you have to send it seperately through E-mail yourself.

ManilaTournament/Departures

hi Guys..
i have the fligth tickets for November 18th, departure at 5 pm for Ricardo, Panny, Franz and myself. we will fly together. Attila flies in from Thailand, Heiko from China, Angelo from Germany. Holger, Simon and Tony make there own bookings and Nicolas is already in Manila.
Ricardo, Franz and myself we fly back to cebu on sunday with the last fligth at 6 pm, Panny is open. all other guys make there own arrangment.

at our meeting last monday we agreed that we play with 2 equal teams. We are down to 11 players, because Conor quitt. we will not replace him, we play with 11 players.
We agreed at the following line ups...
Simon is the goalkeeper, he playes in both teams
the teams are:
Ricardo,Tony,Attila
Panny, Franz
and
Angelo,Otto,Heiko
Nicolas,Holger.

we installed 2 teamcaptains who are always coaching the other team...
Panny coaches my team when we play and i coach there team when there play.

About the hotel and the booking please get in touch with Simon he have the details who is booked and when.
When i was in the citadell in last september i met a guy who drove me during my day in manila, he can arrange a van for the team and drive us during the tournament, i think we should hire him, the cost will be not so much because we are 11 guys to share.

i hope that everybody arrives on friday 18. because we are planing a dinner together at 8pm and than boys out...of course not to much because we have to play next day...
see you guys

Thirsty Cup 2006

All (35+) XP players,

again it is time to register our team for the upcoming 3rd thirsty cup. Naturally, we want to defend our title again and win the cup for a third consecutive time. Therefore we want to field a strong team again? See invitation, rules and regulations, so that we all have the same information level!

Saturday TIMEX at 15.30 pm

When your name is not on the list just adopt the name of any of the five guest players (Johan Cruijff, Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Frank Rijkaard or Ruud van Nistelrooij). These names are listed at the bottom of the list and should not already have been taken by others (so please coordinate with me).

manila line up

i would suggest that we play with 4 defender and 2 forwarder, we dont need midfielder because the field is small and we should aviod to receive any goal. in the front we can always score 1 or 2 out of a counter. as a said i would prefer to form 2 teams and they play always a full have time with full force.
the 2 line ups could be as follow...any other mix is possible..open for discussion.
goal: simon
defender: holger, otto,conor,ricardo
forwarder: heiko, franz
other team
goal:simon
defender: angelo,tony,conor,attila
forwarder:panny, nicholas

as we only have 11 fieldplayer there must be 1 player who plays a full time match. in my first line up this would be conor the british war-horse, in the next match it can be heiko if the chinise dont get all his power and in the last match we have to select another one.
about the goalkeeper, also angelo, ricardo or me can play in the goal to let simon also run ..
as i said its open for discussion and we should meet after nov. 6 and before the tournament.
see you tomorrow

Some suggestions from a former winning coach!

With the assumed seven field-players of the Manila tournament (including keeper) the team can follow a few formations (2-2-2, 2-1-3, 3-1-2 and 3-3). As former tournaments have always shown that it is very important to avoid any scoring by the opponents, the way to go seems to adopt a more conservative formation (3-1-2 or 3-3). With the given qualities of the XP players and the latest chaotic discussion during the XP meeting fresh on our mind it is strongly proposed to play 3-1-2 and to start making arrangements. To stimulate the thinking process, please find below some blunt suggestions for line-up possibilities (players and coach!). Rather than forming two parallel substituting teams to guarantee that everybody will play (which should be the starting point!) it is strongly advised to have a coach (dominant and with insight) decide on required substitutions and approach, following the possible positions of his resources and considering the actual situation on the field.
E.g.
Goalkeeper (Simon, Ricardo)
Left fullback (Tony, Angelo, Ricardo, Attila)
Right fullback (Attila, Otto, Angelo, Holger)
Center fullback (Holger, Heiko, Conor)
Center halfback (Panny, Nicholas, Heiko)
Right forward (Franz, Otto, Panny)
Left forward (Nicholas, Franz, Tony, Conor)
Coach (Otto, Heiko, Conor)
Pls note that every player is only considered for two positions and line-up is very flexible!

Finally, just consider this proposed approach as an attempt by your vice-chairman to demonstrate some leadership (assuring everybody can play in an organized way!), to trigger the preparations and to use our weblog for what it is meant, namely to start a discussion among the group on how to implement the above.
To be commented!!!!!!!!

Although winning is only a minor part of the fun, the ones who stay at home expect a trophy of course!

Saturday 3.30 pm TIMEX; Wednesday 7.30 pm Shangri-la

Today, a new list of players has been forwarded to the TIMEX guards. In case something may go wrong, please refer to or contact 'Mr. Robert Oliver - President and CEO of TIMEX' (or simply Bob!), as I will be out for the weekend. When your name is not on the list just point to any of the five nominated guest players (that did not show up yet) at the bottom of the form.

Please let me know (through replying to this blog) whether you will be interested in playing futsal next week Wednesday (7.30 pm) at Shangri-La (in the absence of Otto I'll try to make the arrangements). Please note that you do not have to confirm for Saturday!!!!!

Monthly Meeting October 15th, 2005

Minutes of October 2005

Attendance: Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Simon, Pieter, Nicolas, Flemming, Panny (Members)

Please accept the Secretaries apologise for the lateness of the minutes, but unfortunately I had problems with my laptop which took the HP Service Centre an eternity to resolve (as always).

1. Communication. The continuing saga into the most appropriate way of communicating to team members was again a hot topic. Albert conducted a ‘quick & dirty’ piece of work demonstrating where people were picking-up information. After reviewing this work it was agreed, that for a trial one month period, no further text messages would be sent to members and that all club information would be posted on the Blog. There would be one exception to the rule, which would be the Wednesday Futsal game at the Shang that Otto would communicate via text and blog.
2. Starting Times. Attila suggested, due to darkness arriving earlier, that we started our Saturday games slightly earlier than the original 4pm. It was passed as a sensible and worthwhile suggestion and the games on a Saturday, held at Timex, will now start at 3.30pm
3. Charity Activity. Pieter has negotiated for the release of second-hand football boots from his native Country and was looking for how this could be tied into good publicity and good processes within the club e.g. ensuring boots go to those who will best utilise them! It was agreed that Pieter would conduct further research and come back to the next meeting with recommendations.
4. Nets for the Timex goals. It was noted that SM held stocks of nets for goal-mouths and that we were in need. Otto agreed to investigate costs and if under P3000 would purchase without further authorisation.
5. Club membership for life. The following was proposed with comments appreciated for review at the next meeting.
a You must be leaving the Country (and organise a farewell party)
b You must have been an active and respected player for at least one year
c You must have contributed significantly to the ‘well-being’ of the XP Club
d Gain approval by those present at the monthly meeting
Lifetime membership would give you:
a Honourable listing on the clubs weblog
b Full access to all club resources
c Free playing during ‘show-ups’

6. Manila Tournament. Two teams were put together that would evenly split players according to ability and positional play. Otto will place the teams onto the Blog. It was agreed that each team would play an equal half thus allowing all players to participate in the tournament fully and equally. It was also agreed, where possible, that the players going to Manila would play together on a Saturday, at Timex, to help them acclimatise to each other and there positions. Simon has booked the hotels with the exception of 2 players; he will capture the booking on the Blog. Each player is responsible for his own flight booking.
7. Future club outings. After a very successful outing, hosted by Franz, it was agreed that Otto and Franz would organise the next event for after the Manila tournament. Further details to follow.
8. Treasures Report. We have P9,095 in the club accounts plus P4,200 open. We recently purchased goals, footballs and a leaving present for Daniele. Future spending proposed for nets. 2006 will see an increase of membership to P150.
9. Xmas. Christmas is fast approaching so it was agreed that Panny and Angelo would be responsible for organising the XP ‘Christmas Celebration 2005’. More details to follow.
10. Thirsty Cup. Albert has items from the Thirsty Cup that he will give to Horst for the ‘XP Lounge’. Any other memorabilia that people have should be denoted to Horst.

The meeting closed at 10.08pm.

Attendance: Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Simon, Andreas, Daniele & Angelo (Members)

Thought I would add a theme to the minutes.
The team arrived in the changing rooms to commence the evening at 8.49pm at Badgers Sports Bar, Banilad.

1. The boss was determined to start the match correctly and duly reviewed the minutes from the last encounter picking-up any loose ends. The football strip was one of those loose ends where it was agreed to post a last ‘Blog’ message asking players if they wanted to purchase there own kit. Otto would then forward supplier details to the boss who would then place the order. It was a simple tactic, involving only 2 people it would surely succeed. The match was getting off to a good start and the minutes were approved.
2. The early momentum continued as the team pushed forward with the ‘Manila World Cup Expat Championships’. I always say ‘the team is only as good as the goalkeeper’ if you have a strong ‘shot stopper’ you will always have a chance of winning. Simon began to prove his worth motivating 11 players in supporting the tournament and collecting their deposits (with some good help by Otto). Getting on top of his game Simon will be posting a message on the Blog with all the details necessary in supporting the administrative side of the event e.g. Transportation & Accommodation.
3. Confidence was high as the team began to talk about the football goals at the dearly loved ‘home ground’ of Timex (Bob Oliver’s ‘Stadium of Endless Time’). The boss, always keen for the best equipment for his team, has agreed to liaise with Jurgen and ask for his teamwork to build and supply some smaller goals than those already present (Where was Jurgen? We were missing that extra man at the front that was giving us the additional weight to hold-up the ball). Daniele, always looking for an opportunity to get into the game, will look at the possibility of the Shangrila donating an additional goal set. The team were working well together and taking advantage of every opportunity.
4. Half-time was fast approaching but it was OK because Otto, with that very typical German methodology, has managed to organise a ‘Club Outing’ with Franz for the 25th September, 2005. Franz has a new boat and was prepared to take players and their families to Cabilao for a BBQ. Daniele, once again, stepped up to the mark and offered the pontoon at the Shangrila for docking purposes if needed. Otto will post more information on the Blog when appropriate.
5. The team were ahead as they moved into the changing rooms for refreshments and light banter. Daniele again took centre stage when he announced that he was leaving the Philippines for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Apparently another team has come in for his services realising the potential that he has to ‘put the ball in the back of the net’. The boss was unable to talk about the transfer money involved but it matched that of a ‘pre-season’ deal with the German powerhouse of Heiko. Otto nearly fell to the ground on bended knees as he gave Daniele ‘super-star’ status as a life long XP Team member (without pay). Daniele is organising a transfer party for the 23rd September, more details to follow……
6. The half-time break must of stirred things up for the team as they came out in an indifferent mood. Man Utd were playing on TV and Rooney was being sent off for impetuousness a sign for our own team to open up a lively debate. The boss introduced some proposed rules and practices for the club which sparked people into a frenzy of activity. The ball was being whipped across field at real pace, sometimes the ball fell to the player’s foot but often it was being pushed to far down the field and out of reach. The players were being asked to work overtime as the boss was seeking to take the game by the ‘scruff of the neck.’ During this time 9 players were being removed from the list of ‘active players’ amazingly due to their inactivity or lack of membership payment. Those players are: Stu, Vince, Sheldon, Babok, Yasser, Dan, Zadeh, Herve and Paul. But the boss was in a determined mood and would not say no to gaining a formal agreement; the match was there for the winning. Exhausted by the effort the players managed to score that vital goal and win the game. The match report follows.
7. So it was that the team moved back to the dressing room. It had been dirty there for a minute but they had come through the game with style and panache. Daniele started to think about the Wednesday game already promised to speak with the Shangrila about securing the field after he leaves the Country at the end of September. Otto injected next that the teams reserves were at P13,100, he was obviously showing the strain of the match as it took him several attempts to secure the correct information (is this a sign of old age?). But he was happy as the club decided to purchase a new ball… With this the lights went off at 10.15pm and the guys left content that the match had secured all 3 points.

Here is the 'match report'

Club rules and practices
1. The team will be known as ‘XP Cebu International Soccer Club’

2. The team will hold a monthly meeting every 15th day of the month unless falling on a weekend when a more suitable date will be agreed by the board. A monthly meeting will push through once 5 members (agreed minimum for a forum) have confirmed.

3. As a team we will adopt the ‘’no pay, no play, no say’’ ruling. This means that unless you pay your membership contributions you will not be allowed to play soccer or have a say on the monthly XP meetings.

4. For announced periods of absence lasting longer than 2 months a special arrangement can be made with the Treasurer.

5. Membership is P100 per month due at the beginning of each month. Guests will be charged at P50 per game (after first game of free trial). Regular players who introduce any guests will be held accountable for settling the costs. The club reserves the right to alter membership charges after due consultation at any monthly meeting.

6. Members will be contacted through cell phone, and/or email and/or the clubs weblog (
www.xpcebu.blogspot.com). As the preferred method of communication it is advisable that all members register on the weblog to gain detailed information on club activities/events etc whilst allowing you the opportunity to respond to any posts.

7. Every active member will be contacted to play soccer or attend monthly meetings. Each player will need to respond with a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’. Only those confirmed will receive an announcement in case the event is cancelled.

8. Guests to play at Timex need to have their names forwarded to the organiser by Thursday afternoon. Due to safety considerations guests under 10 years of age are not allowed.

9. Club positions (Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer and Secretary) are in place for an undetermined term. Elections will be held during the monthly meetings in case one or more than one position is vacated.

Futsal at Metrosport - Lahug

Hi guys,

Unfortunately, at last Wednesday's futsal (6.00 to 7.00 pm) at MetroSport in Lahug only 4 players showed up (Otto, Albert, Panny and Conor), out of seven confirmed players. After a very intens warming-up (sweaty hall) we played foot volley, which was actually great fun. The floor and location were OK, but it was too hot and not really safe yet to continue playing here.

Saturday's soccer will again be at North Town (txt message will follow). Next week we will most likely move to our 'own' TIMEX pitch again.

Minutes of Meeting of August 15, 2000

Attendance: Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Conner & Laczo

Meeting commenced 8.45 at ‘Badgers’ the new sports bar close to ‘BTC’.

1. We kicked the meeting off talking through any possible entry into the ‘Expat World Football Championship’ in Manila, November 19th and 20th. There is a team entry fee of $500 and only a limited amount of entries left (3 or 4). We estimated that the 2 days would cost each individual P15,000 (Entry, hotel, flight, food and beer).
Those present were keen to participate but we require at least 10 players. Albert will place a message on the Blog to generate interest. If we manage to get 10 players, Conner will organize the event on behalf of the team with the first task of securing a non-refundable deposit of at least P5000.
2. The club have agreed to purchase a new football. The new Cebu Expat Football strip (shirts & shorts) will be available to purchase at a price of P450. Albert to place notice on the Blog asking players to place their orders. Albert will also cost the purchase of cones that could be used to mark-out the pitch and report to the Finance Manager.
3. This week we will play at Northtown, unless TIMEX becomes available. Next week it will be CIS or TIMEX. Albert will confirm later this week.
4. We had a guest from the ‘Metro Sports Club’. He has promised us that the ‘Futsal Pitch’ will be ready this coming Wednesday. It is located next to the ‘Sunflower’ night club in Lahug. We are booked from 8.00 until 9.00pm (arrive no latter than 7.30), at a cost of P700. The club will meet the cost of this, the first trial of the location, but in future will ask players to meet their equal share of the cost. Otto to organize players for this event. (Conner will also be placing an advert in the facility asking soccer players if they want to join us).
5. Blog site. Not many pictures have been received by Albert that can be placed onto the site. Its an easy process now to include your own picture on your site or in your own profile, so ‘get uploading’.
6. Otto has agreed to organize a club outing. He will be talking to Franz, in Cabilao, to check on availability of pitch. Otto will be reporting back later.
7. Otto also informed us that we have P12,760 in his holding from the monthly subscriptions. He will be reviewing the list of players not seen for several months and erasing them from the players list. In addition (fully supported from those present) it was decided that if a player suddenly turned-up for a single and infrequent game, we would make a charge of P50.
8. We decided that holding the meeting in a bar was the preferred location and as such the next meeting (Thursday, September 15) will again be held at Badgers.

Minutes 14th July, 2005

Attendance: Horst (Chairman), Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager) Tony (Secretary), Flemming, Peter, Simon, Conner & Panni

Meeting commenced 8.46pm at Café Theatro, Crossroads.

It was noted that a large contingency of people attending this meeting was English. It was felt that this could only be beneficial to the club adding an air of sophistication and professionalism to the proceedings (This might just be my own opinion).

1. ‘Metro Sports’ is a relatively new and expanding sports centre that has developed a ‘Futsal Pitch’. It is located next to the Sunflower night club and originally catered solely for the badminton enthusiasts. It was agreed that Connor would secure a football pitch, if available, for this Wednesday 20th July, 8pm, for a 1 hour slot. It was felt that this was sufficient to test out the facility and form an opinion if it was something we would like to continue with. As we will only have a 1 hour game it is important that any player wishing to participate is prompt. More details to follow if the booking is successful.
2. ‘Don Bosco Dads’. One of the leading lights of DBD’s is/will be living in Beverly Hills and has decided to build a floodlit football pitch in his back-garden that he will rent out to local football teams. We will keep this information on our radar. Horst will also be talking to DBD’s in an attempt to organise a football match. In addition whilst Horst was networking with DBD’s they mentioned a group of Financer’s, based in Manila, who want to visit Cebu and play a game of football at the same time. Again Horst will try to arrange.
3. Connor has agreed to ring Rudolf in Manila to gain further information on the ‘Expat World Football Championships’ to be played in Makati. This is a 7-a-side game, for over 35’s played November each year.
4. We talked about having our own pitch again but general opinion was that this would not be a realistic goal. It was understood that the Timex facility might be ready for late August/September and that most people believed this pitch felt like the home of Expat football here in Cebu.
5. Heiko will be back in Cebu on the 28th July. Albert will try and organise a match against the Lear Team whilst Peter tries to secure the pitch at CIS for the 30th July. After the match we would like players to meet-up at CafĂ© Theatro, Crossroads for some drinks with Heiko before moving onto the Arena, an upmarket bar based near the port with some exceptionally ‘fine women’. We have been led to believe, by a source close to the action, that the dancing is beautifully choreographed.
6. The Finance Manager ended the night informing us that the club had P9,567 in the bank. There was a continued debate about absent players and those players not paying there dues. A general agreement to continue ‘as is’ was made with the feeling that P100’s a month was not detrimental to anyone’s financial healthcare.

The meeting concluded at 9.50pm with Otto declaring his home as the venue for the next meeting in August.

Minutes from June 2005

OK, so I am very late with the minutes. No excuses will just try and do better next time! Mind you they do say ‘Better late than never’.

The meeting kicked off at 9.26pm, the venue being Angelo’s upmarket, executive residence where a wonderful feast had been planned for early arrivals.

First on the agenda was a debate about players that seldom attended and there removal from the ‘Players List’. We commented on players like Nicholas that would often text to say they would be attending games or chased for information as to time and place of matches but then never turned-up. We could not understand the rational behind the action.

Continuing from this subject it was accepted that as Expats we were likely to spend longer holidays/business events out of the country than would be the norm back in Europe. As such, providing Otto was informed first, if a player will be spending a month out of the country they will not be expected to pay any dues.

We then talked about tournaments and agreed that our policy would be not to actively support any tournament that lasted longer than 1 day.
Daniele then agreed to organise the 2nd Shangrala Cup for sometime in October an event that was very popular at its inaugural opening. The group then asked if it was possible for Conner to secure the tape from Channel 28 of that particular event.

We then talked around the prospects facing us on our own ‘home ground’. We wondered how things were looking at Timex and will ask Bob to report. We also talked about a field at Sunkist which was overgrown and un-used. Steve was assigned to investigate this option previously but unfortunately is now in the UK until early next year. For the mean-time we will be using the field at Northtowns Homes over the coming 2 months until CIS is available again. Otto will be making a donation to Northtowns in recognition of there assistance. Everybody agreed that we need to have a recognised ‘Home Ground’ as this would foster stronger ties with the club and encourage players to join.

The meeting finished at 10.35pm.

Part 2 - The Mighty Reds

So those boys at Uefa realised that the 'Mighty Reds' were so mighty that they must be allowed in next years competition. Its good to see that sense can rule on these occasions.
I just feel sorry for the rest of Europe. Do those Germans, French, Italians and Spanish think they have a chance of removing Liverpool from there rightful position?
2006 will see Liverpoool retaining the cup and dominating Europe over the next ten tears. As we say ''Bring it on''.

open monthly fees

hi guys
if you are coming today please pay your open fees so that we can close the accounting for the first 6 month on our next meeting on june 16.
Nicolas 4-6
Sheldon 4-6
Holger 5-6
Stu 6
Gaetano 6
Attila 6
Rocco 6
Yaser 6
Vince is suspended from playing since he did not pay for the last 5 month. In our last meeting all agreed unanimously to suspend him if he fails to pay. Even our student-players pay there 100 peso without special asking.

saturday soccer

guys,
yesterday i submitted our list of names to cis . so far everything seems to be still ok, even though school vacation started and the campus will be closed. i just hope that we can still play there during that period of two months. if not, we must go back to north town homes again, which will be fine too, because the number of players is reducing and with only 10 players NTH is good enough.
so, better take advantage of the big field in cis and show up tomorrow afternoon for a good game and a good work out. please confirm, so we know that we are at least 10 players . otherwise it makes no sense and we better cancel it .
hope to see you.

The 'Mighty Reds'

So Liverpool outclassed and outplayed (maybe a little bias) Milan to take the Trophy for the 5th time and thus retain the sliverware at there home in England.
At half time I was very close to going back to bed but decided I would give it 10 more minutes before 'hitting the sack'. My gosh, imagine how I would of felt this morning turning the news on and hearing that Liverpool were the new champions!!!! What a great comeback and a fitting result for a 'never die' attitude from the boys in red. Let the rest of the World look on in wonder and amazement......

Soccer planning tool

It is my intention to soon help develop a simple soccer planning tool (see below for set-up of algorithm). This will then be linked to the weblog. In non-technical terms, everybody should fill in his intentions for the coming Saterday and / or Wednesday soccer events (at any time) and will know instantly who and how many will show up. In case of too few player a web post or E-mail may automatically be created asking others to join. The program will also announce through the weblog or E-mail the cancelation of the event in case too few players are listed shortly before the event. This tool can also be used to show possible last-minute changes in location.

But once again, it all starts with having everybody being a weblog member. So, please try to convince the non-members to join asap.

Now Otto is already an active and enthusiastic weblogger I hope he will become a bit more supportive. With some little money I can outsource this algorithm to a local IT person (this would speed it up considerably).

Please let me know your thoughts about this approach.

Furthermore I will prepare standard picture galleries to be linked to the weblog. This may also be the way to show video's.

Regards,

Albert

Automatic soccer planning algorithm (for the week ahead)
1. Open database and check your name
2. Read and confirm computer date and read names of active Saturday and
Wednesday players
3. Ask question ‘Do you play next Saturday?’
4. Mark field and save / close
5. Reply ‘there are __ many players' / show list of players
6. If # of players less than e.g. 6 create weblog post / E-mail to mobilize more players
7. Ask question ‘Do you play next Wednesday?’
8. Mark field and save / close
9. Reply ‘There are __ many players.’ / show list of players
10. If # of players less than e.g. 8 create weblog post to mobilize more players
11. If remaining time is less than e.g. 4 hrs and players are less than needed 6
or 8 send E-mail to active players and weblog canceling the match.

GUYS PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHO IS COMING TOMORROW

saturday soccer

please be reminded that tomorrow 4 pm we have our regular practice in CIS. no text messages will be send anymore. we just hope that it will work this way, too.

by the way brian bedford of cis thanked us and said that the gift we gave last week was actually not necessary but well appreciated.

sad to say that skycable was not able to connect our xp lounge within the last 4 weeks. therefore we cannot show the upcoming FA-cup final ManU vs. Arsenal tomorrow night. unfortunately, 'sandtrap' obviously has a problem with their projector and can't use the wide screen anymore. does anyone have an idea where to go and watch as a group? what about paulaner?

Shangri-la futsal

Hello guys,

As Heiko's successor I am supposed to arrange for the Wednesday evening soccer at Shangri-la. Although the number of people joining this event decreases in time, there is still a critical group that prefers to play. However, when the number drops below 8 we will have to cancel.

After discussion with Horst and Daniele we agreed on the following:
1. For as long as he will be assigned to Shangri-la Mactan Daniele will take care of the required financial compensation of the tennis court. Even in his absence this should not be a problem. Daniele will make the necessary arrangements.
2. Daniele needs a final list of players shortly before the event (guard procedures are more strict nowadays). This means that everybody who wants to play needs to confirm. So no surprise show-ups anymore.
3. As I will be out for my summer vacation starting early next week, Horst will send out the text messages during my absence (6 weeks) and will put the final list on the weblog or send an E-mail to the guard / Daniele.
4. We will observe the attendance the coming period and may consider a summer reces or decrease of frequency of events (e.g. on a monthly basis). If so the decision will be made during a regular team meeting.
5. As the players involved are not on the web log yet, please let them know of these new rules (and convince them to become a member of the weblog).

Web log

1. I'll try to prepare a standard photo gallery, so we can simply link some photo collections to the web log. Regarding video, I leave it up to Conor to produce some simple mp3 or avi files to be linked.
2. I also try to fix our logo to the site. The one I got from Conor is a scanned image. Does the original still exist somewhere?
3. Please have your name listed as a XPCebu web logger, by following the instructions in the E-mail that we have sent to all of you (From:Blogger Invites, Re: Blogger blog invitation from
). In case you need any help, just let me know. Horst, maybe you can send this request as a text message to all players (including my E-mail address), so we can have it organized before I leave for my much needed vacation (25th of May)? I can also attach a picture to the name (just send me a jpg or gif file).
4. If somebody has suggestions for other links to our site just let me know (soccer teams like SC Heerenveen for instance, Cebu soccer sites, ...). Please keep the site for soccer and XP related info and discussions only. For non-typical XP dive announcements, or whatsoever, you can simply set-up another blog.

xp lounge

sorry guys,

but until now sky cable was not able to connect the tv screen in our xp lounge. unfortunately we still cannot watch the champions league yet. sky cable is still waiting for a connector device which is ordered from their manila office. so, the official opening of the xp lounge must be postponed again until at least next week. for this purpose i still need the two thirsty cups and the two winner's photos from whoever is in the possession of them now to add it to our 'xp shrine'.

as you know, the lounge is open already and thursday and friday night we have our first event, 2 lingerie shows, at 11.30pm, which are organized by an event organizer. then saturday, of course, heiko's big farewell party after the lear- game in the afternoon.

please come, visit us one of these days, have a good look and give us your feed back and suggestions .
