MANILA SQUAD
guys..
we meet tomorrow at 5 pm at the airport for the one who take the 6pm fligth.
the get together party in manila is from 7-10pm, at the oxford suites in burgos street, walking distance from our team hotel, the royal bellagio hotel, burgos street.
the tournament on saturday starts at 10.30am, our first match is at 12.30pm. we should depart from our hotel at around 10am latest. a van is ready for us. for the one who arrives on saturday morning please come straigth to the bellagio hotel, we ride together to the field.
on sunday the matches starts at 11.30am.
the organizer are well aware that we old guys need time in the morning to go out of the bed or whereas we are in.
please everybody bring his private blue and white uniform. on saturday we have 4 matches we can use the blue uniform because we have for everybody 2 sets. on sunday than the white, we have only 1 set.

WE MADE IT..
guys..
for the 3th time in 4 years we made it.. our 36+ team won the Thirsty Cup at the Abellana Stadium. After a slow start with 3 times 0:0 we won the 4th match 2:0 and draw again at the last group match 1:1. that gave us 7 points and the second spot in our group. The Semifinal gave us the change to take revanche at the moalboal boys..after a scoreless o:0 again..penaltys..but this time we made it ..4:3..The final against a team from Leyhte..Einstein Soccer.. was intens, we played them before in our group a 0:0, but in the final we scored the winning goal and made a wonderful 1:0.
Our mens open team played a brillant group stage round, succeded in the 1/8 final in a penalty shoutout, but lost in a penalty shoutout at the 1/4 final. congrats also to all of them.

february meeting
again XP has its monthly meeting, which will be held coming thursday, 15th of feb, at 8.30 pm in cafe theatro, crossroads, banilad. the beer is free again. it's on the club!!
all the thirsty cup players of both teams should show up in order to finalize the teams' preparations. the line ups are :
open: jordi, nicolas, jeremy, attila, rodolphe, yousef, babak, ian, mike, michael, barry, xavier
36ers: franz, lowell, riccardo, pieter, flemming, tony, holger, panny, conor, otto, nicolas, horst
i have sent the skeds of games to those players i have an email address from. the rest (yousef, ian, mike, michael, barry, xavier) can get it during our meeting.

Manila Write Up
This is the write up for the Manila tournament. For simplicity and speed I have used the copy/idea from our previous tournament with some slight changes where appropriate.
The XP Cebu International Soccer Club is well represented here at the Manila Nomads Tournament. We have twelve talented guys ready to step-up to the mark and take up the challenge of lifting the silverware. They are:
Horst: Quite simply the life blood of the team. This German is our President and our rock in defense. He uses his head when all around him are loosing there way, his passing is sublime, his vision amazing.
Holger: This German boy is 'Mr Reliable'. He has the strength to hold his ground in defence and the skill and determination to drive forward when the opportunity arrises. You can try and work your way around him but you are going to have to be good!
Franz: This guy has some great touches, I have seen him do some wonderful things with the ball. Again from the ‘fatherland’ this German wizard can slice the ball through any defense; don’t let that exterior of his fool you!
Otto: The last of our Germans. This guy is not only carrying a punch but he is also a magician on the pitch. Watch-out for his head and the way he dominates the goal mouth at set pieces this guy is bringing the steadiness to the ship that the team deserve.
Attila: The defeat of England in 1953 by the Hungarians heralded a complete re-think on how football was played in the UK and now this guy will be trying to do the same for this great tournament.
Riccardo: Italian flair and attitude prevalent from this fine footballing genius. This man can run defense or control midfield. A God to the girls and a leader on the field; Riccardo will be a thorn to any team.
Nicolas: You have to love this guy for all the passion that he brings to the game. He has silky skills and a finish to boot that would impress any footballing pundit. Give this guy space and regret your marking!
Flemming: The Dutch have truely landed with the 'Big Guy' of the team. I have seen Flemming unbeatable in the goal, a shot stopper supreme. But his talents don't just stop there, move him in to defense and he can equally hold his ground. He is the dude!
Panny: Many of our sporting legends are from Greek ancestry and this guy is no different. A legend within the XP team Panny brings the finest touch and finish to the footballing game that would be at home in any professional team. This guy is hot!
Conor: English brut strength in the defense and amazing fire in his belly moving forward. This guy does not take enemies; he does not take his game lightly. Conor is here to perform stop the opposition scoring and put the ball in the back of the net. His goal plan is simple destroy, destroy, destroy!
Tony: The second of the Englishmen; don’t blink because you will miss him! The engine of the team, never stationary, always busy; this guy will harass your defense will worry your midfield and outgun your forwards!
Simon: The last of the English this guy can play in goal, defence, midfield or attack! Nothing will phaze this man, he has the vision to win and the mentality to take the game to the opposition. Do not show weakness to this man he will show you no mercy!
