Manila Tournament

hi guys
the squad is back...
we played a very good competition and reached the 1/4 final in an impressive way. Unfortunatly we was down to 9 players and had to pay the tribute in the 1/4 final when we was a little flat. after an nice win in the first match 3:1 we had an very well deserved 1:1 than we lost against the winner of 2002 and 2004, who later also reached the final. after this we was second in our group and went to the knock out stage. at the 1/8 final we played a team from bombay and won it 2:1. all in all it was a nice tournament and with a full team of 12 players who knows what we could reach. from the other side of our trip is nothing to tell since we always went to bed early and slept.
beside of our good football we was also the team with the most gwapo outfit..bye the way..all the uniforms are ready, the prize was 801 peso. i bring them on thuesday and saturday..
see you

Lacking Kits, Laundry

hi guys
after the springdale match last thursday we lacking the following uniforms:
Shirts: 9, 11, 14
Shorts: 6,8,9,11,14
please return them to the club.

The last 3 matches we played - aboitiz cup and 2x springdale - the uniforms got very dirty because of the muddy pitches. therefore my helper Bernadeth had to HANDWASH them all 2x and some even 3x to get them clean. i ask you guys for a little xmass gift for Bernadeth, she was working very hard to get your dirty kits clean. i will provide a small savingbox and ask you for a token. thank you.

Friday, October 27, 2006

Misc.

hi guys
the rematch yesterday at Springdale was again a very wet event. we won it again 4:2 and there was no danger in loosing the game, we could even play without goalkeeper. after the game we had the most expensive chicken bbq of our life..the springdale guys took almost 6000 peso away from us for some bbq manok and sausages.. additional with the beer and the referee the whole event cost us 8.350 peso ! i think we should not play them anymore.
tomorrow is NO lear match, just normal practice at 4 pm..
about the xmass party..sophia suite is not the right place, they will charge us appr. 6000 peso for renting the place..my idea is now sandtrap...what you think about this...we buy the drinks from them and bring our own food.. we have to book it soon...!
see you tomorrow

Minutes - October 18th

Those present: Horst – President, Otto – Finance Manager, Tony – Secretary, Panni – Vice President and members Nicolas, Pieter, Jordi, Simon, Manolo and Manns

Nets – Franz is still looking to get nets for the goals at Timex

Physical challenges – Players are reminded that for friendly games we ask that you do not make physical challenges on the opposing team. We all enjoy the competitive nature of the games but appreciate an injury free match. We play to have fun and enjoyment.

Dads United – A second game has been organized for 26th October; it is open to everyone but we would appreciate confirmation if you wish to play; please text Horst accordingly. For this match it is the responsibility of XP to purchase the beers (Otto talk to Conor) and food (Horst talk to Dads).

Lear – A game against Lear will be organized for 28th October at the Timex field (Jordi to collate names and forward to Daz). The match is open for all; we will be playing 9 a side and hope to have three teams including Lear. Very important to note we will be starting at 2.30pm

Queen City has asked for a game to be played on a Sunday at their playing field. Jordi will gauge the level of interest for a Sunday game before we commit.

XMAS – The Sophia Suite has been booked for this event; given that we only have P10,000 for this gathering only drink will be paid for by the club. We will be looking at individuals to provide food. The date and organizer will be decided latter.

Budget – There was a recommendation of an increase to the subs for the 2007 season. An increase to P1,000 per quarter (P334 per month) was agreed and P100 per game for guests

Kits – We have agreed to review the XP kit; Manolo will be canvassing opinions and presenting options at the next meeting (Hopefully he might supply some models and have a cat walk at the same time).

Folding Chairs – It was decided not to progress this idea

Captain – It was felt that we should appoint a captain when we play competitive games. This can be done at the time but remember to respect the decision of that nominated player.

Finance – We have P11,933 with P4,500 outstanding

Movements – If you are leaving the country for several weeks please let us know via the Blog, this is purely for information purposes.

Involvement – It was great to see a good turn-out at this monthly meeting which generated some lively discussions. Remember unless you attend your voice will not be heard.

feed back

last night the xp-36ers (simon, riccardo, horst, pieter, mansour, sebastien, otto, manolo, tony, franz, panny) have played an 11-a-side- game against dads united/queen city. despite the heavy rain and some strange referee decisions we were able to win the game 4:2, which was well deserved, since we dominated the game. the goals were scored by franz, seb and 2x panny. after fellowship with matching bbq and a few beers we decided to play each other again in 2 weeks from now, which is thursday, oct. 26th, same venue, same time. then it will be us to take care of food and drinks.

Monday, October 09, 2006

Guys,
here you have the pictures of the Aboitiz Cup. The young guys run so fast that all their pics are out of focus. Next time move slowly. You will loose but will get nice pics, at least.

misc.

hi guys,

i'm back on track now. my PC had let me down and it took me a while, as always here in phils, to get it repaired.

1.
due to demand i want to inform those who had not played the aboitiz cup or who live abroad or had not been informed about the outcome yet, that both of our teams played again very well and went through the group stage with ease. even though each team did not loose or even concede a single goal, we did not win the cup. again both teams went out on penalty shoot out. the open team only lost after 7 ! penalties to the later finalist 'siliman university' from dumaguete city. the 36 team made it to the final but lost to 'don bosco alumni' on penalties. the local newspaper wrote that don bosco ruled the 36 bracket, which i vehemently deny. we had all the chances to win in regular time.

2.
i already informed the 36ers that we have an invitation from the 'dads united' team to visit them and play a friendly game in springdale school, along gorordo ave., lahug on oct. 12 at 7pm. can everyone please try to come since its not only about soccer but also fellowship with food and beers. later on we will arrange for a 11 a side men's open match in san carlos field in talamban against their team 'queen city'.

3.
i suggest that our next monthly meeting will be held on oct. 18.
agenda so far:
  • buy a second kit of uniforms
  • buy folding chairs
  • discussion: is our practice game too physical ?
if you have something for the agenda please let us know.

4.
darren, i will send you the timex list for the month of october by separate e-mail. can you please see to it that the guards will use it. even though we gave them an actual list for each month, so far they still work with a list that dates back to may 2006 and naturally does not contain the names of the players that are actually playing .

Tuesday, October 03, 2006

Minutes - September 14th

Those present: Horst-President, Otto-Finance, Tony-Secretary and members Nicolas, Franz, Pieter, Jordi, Simon, Jeremy, Panni and Honarary member Albert
Nets - Measurements have been passed to Franz who will organize for some nets to be manufactured by some fishermen based in Cabon
Manila- Rodolph has booked the Citadel Inn for the Friday and Saturday nights for 11 players. Darren secured a cost of P3461 for flights to Manila through the Timex travel agency but it was felt that each individual should be responsible for booking there own flight.
Finance - We had P9,483 with P3000 outstanding!
Aboitiz Cup - Due to lateness of this report this is now irrelevant.
The meeting concluded

Manila write-up

So guys, here is the write-up for the Manila tournament programme. I hope you have no problems with the commentary. We will be taking a team photo next weekend so maybe it would be a good idea, if possible, to come in your kit. All the best,
XP CEBU INTERNATIONAL SOCCER CLUB – WRITE UP

The XP Cebu International Soccer Club is represented for the second consecutive time here in Manila at the Nomads Tournament. Twelve brave ‘diehards’ have stepped up to the mark and taken the pledge to represent XP Cebu. They are:
Angelo: This 38 year old German is steadfast in defense; what he lacks in speed and agility he makes up with in beef and commitment. Don’t mess with this boy he has ‘made in Germany’ all over him!
Heiko: An honorary member of the team now living and working in Wuhan, China. This German boy has the speed, skill and determination to motivate the whole team. You won’t see Heiko standing still he will be ploughing his way through the field.
Franz: This guy might be the old boy of the team but wow does he have some great touches. Again from the ‘fatherland’ this German wizard can slice the ball through any defense; don’t let that exterior of his fool you!
Otto: The last of our Germans. This guy is carrying a punch; not only can he be a rock in the goal mouth but a magician on the pitch. Multi talented, Otto brings the steadiness to the ship that the team deserve.
Attila: The defeat of England in 1953 by the Hungarians heralded a complete re-think on how football was played in the UK and now this guy will be trying to do the same for this great tournament.
Riccardo: Italian flair and attitude prevalent from this fine footballing genius. This man can run defense or control midfield. A God to the girls and a leader on the field; Riccardo will be a thorn to any team.
Rodolph: You have to love the French for all the passion they bring to the game. Rodolph can turn on a ‘sixpence’. He has silky skills and a finish to boot that would impress any footballing pundit. Give this guy space and regret your marking!
Jerermy: This tall, lean guy from Trinidad & Tobago is a deceiving package. How can he maneuver so quickly and stealthily? Watch as he dances around the field weaving in and out of the opposition.
Jordi: This Spaniard combines the attributes of the French & Italians. He oozes flair, attitude and passion. Don’t give this man an inch; he is deadly and can score from anywhere on the field you cannot help but be impressed by this mans footballing prowess.
Panny: Many of our sporting legends are from Greek ancestry and this guy is no different. A legend within the XP team Panny brings the finest touch and finish to the footballing game that would be at home in any professional team. This guy is hot!
Dazza: English brut strength in the defense. This guy does not take enemies; he does not take his game lightly. Dazza is here to perform and stop the opposition scoring. His goal plan is simple destroy, destroy, destroy!
Tony: The second of the Englishmen; don’t blink because you will miss him! The engine of the team, never stationary, always busy; this guy will harass your defense will worry your midfield and outgun your forwards!

Treasurers Report

Hi Guys
Since we have to pay for the futsal at Metrosport our financial reserves melting away. At the end of the III.Quarter - Sept. 30. - we have cash in hand only 4.333 Peso with an outstanding balance of 3000 Peso from guys i am not shure they show up again.
For the IV.Quarter we will receive an estimate of 13.000 Peso and have payments 4.500 Peso for Metrosport November and December + the beer for the meetings in October, November and December..estimate 4000 Peso. Metrosport for October is fully payed already!
Looking a little ahead into December than it looks dark for our X-mass Party with only around 9.000 Peso in hand.
At our next meeting in October we should talk about this. i ask the members for an additional payment for the IV.Quarter to cover the expected expenses or we make a different approach and everybody bring food for the party and we buy only the drinking stuff.
i am looking forward to your comments.

aboitiz cup

mizuno cup is over. both of our teams did very well and did not loose a game in the group stage. alltogether we had 4 wins and 5 draws. both teams went out only by loosing the penalty shoot out in the knock out stage. unlucky! both teams did not even concede a single goal. that speaks of a good and strong defense. what we only have to improve is to convert our chances e.g. free kicks and penalties!!!

for those who still don't have enough and are motivated still, there is the next tournament coming up on september 23/24 : the aboitiz cup which will be held in the cebu city sports complex or abellana stadium. this time all players have to submit photo copies of their passports with photo and date of birth on it. please don't forget to pass it asap. in addition every player has to fill out a form. this form tony will be handing out coming saturday in timex.

so, better luck next time...

The future of futsal

hi guys
this wednesday, august 23. will be the last time we play at ShangriLa. Tony is in charge of the texting to ensure that there are enough players. If there is no objection i will try to purchase the goals from ShangriLa since our goals at Timex slowly falling apart.
Starting next week i was able to get the pitch at Metrosport for every THUSDAY from 9 to 10pm. There is no earlier slot available so we have to take this. Metrosport is beside Sunflower Disco at Salinas Drive in Lahug. We have to pay 650 Peso for this 1 hour, the use of the shower is included. This will be payed bye the club since everybody is invitet to join the futsal.
We played there one time last year...the pitch is indoor, its a bigger field, goals but its realy hot.
hope they provide more fans for us.
see you wednesday.

one of the directors of CebuFA informed me that on september 23/24 there will be the aboitiz cup for men's open and also for 35 and above. the tournament will be held somewhere here in cebu. so far i did not receive the rules and regulations, schedule of games and whatsoever. but anyways, can everyone please give me a feed back, if you are generally interested to play and also which team you prefer to play with. we actually plan to field a team for each category.

last saturday the following players signed in already:
men's open: jordi, nicolas C., mehrdad, rodolphe, babak
35 above: horst, manolo, tony, holger, angelo, mansour, conor, otto, juergen W.,

since this will be a 7 -a-side-tournament, we probably need around 10-12 players for each team. so please get in touch.

hi guys
your treasurer reports back...just in time for the great finals. until the quarterfinals i was watching this great championship back home in germany. the semis i had the pleasure to see them in Bangkok, even we lost to italy, it was a great match. congrats to them and also to france who beat brazil well deserved. so guys see you on sunday nigth at badgers for the final...

objection..

my dear Tony...sorry but England playes without any heart and inspiration..you are running more every saturday than the whole english team. no midfield..only long balls for Rooney and this tall Mr.Bean..Croutch.. or whats his name..this will not be enough. but maybe its enough for portugal but than is finish against France..they found there team against spain
Argentina is already good as out...they are shaking to face this great team of germany...did you see any team who play all 4 matches that well...figthing spirit, heartblood and running, running and technical skills (thats new). after the gauchos we will kick out this lousy italian team..4 matches lucky and lazy..i think berlusconi payed the referee in the australien match...i forgot to mention the brazilians..what a shame. xp playes faster than them..very bad team..nothing. france will give them another 3:0...
and than we are at the final.. germany against france..it will be a great final and the cup stay here at the place of the hosts..i think the french will be polite guests.
thats the way i see it...
by the way..i am back for the final..looking forward to see you at badgers at. july 9

England go martching on and on and on

Here we go guys, I have been studying the form in the World Cup and believe that I am now in a position to predict the results of the remaining games..

Brazil v Ghana = easy Brazilian win
Spain v France = Close game; French underperformed but with Henry they could upset the Spanish, still I go for a Spanish win
Germany v Argentina = Argentina win, sorry Otto but your luck has run-out
Italy v Ukraine = Italy win by continuing to play lousy football
England v Portugal = England win, things are looking brighter
Spain v Brazil = Spain to conquer the Brazilian flair, Jordi to buy everyone a beer in Badgers!

Argentina v Italy = Argentina win, the Italians were lucky to get so far
England v Spain = There is only ever one team that is likely to win this as England progress to the final

Italy v Spain = Spain at least take third place
England v Argentina = The World Cup returns to its rightful home. The English are crowned the champions and recognized as the worlds leading football nation. Simon buys beers for everyone in Badgers and the Falklands remain under British sovereignty.

"Its coming home, its coming home, its coming, football's coming home la la la la"

Tournament, Moalboal, Fin.status

hi guys
i was in Moalboal today and talked with Jochen, the captain of the Moalboal Homeboys. They will NOT join us at the Queencity 38 above tournament. This means that we are far from forming at least a team with 11 players. the responce is very lousy, some guys cant even say a simple no..we have only 7 players with a clear yes, therefore i will tell Richard the captain of Queencity that we will not participate.
The match against the Moalboal team is now scheduled for saturday april 22 at our timex field at 4 pm with party afterwards at the yachtclub. jochen will come with around 6 to 8 players so we will mix it a little.
As of today, the end of the first quarter we have 11.688 peso in cash. i received 18.300 peso for 2005 and 2006 fees and 1.500 peso from guestplayer. the takeover from last year was 955 peso. for new balls, first aid kit, goalnets and the beer for the last meeting i spend all in all 9.067 peso.
The payments for the first Quarter came in very properly, there is only 2 fees outstanding. some guys payed already for the second quarter..bravo..
see you tomorrow

Being Dutch

Now guys,
Albert is a nice guy. Its ok, we forgive him for being Dutch even though he thinks that the propaganda he spreads about intelligence is true. Many of us can agree that the Dutch are a harmless lot that enjoy smoking the odd joint or visiting the red-light district. Personaly I have a lot of time for the Dutch and will in particular miss him when he returns home and I think its about time we all appreciated the value the Dutch add to society. In order to achieve this noble gesture I would like to direct you to the following site. Its very informative and gives you a flavour for what the non Dutch are missing:

I want to be Dutch now!

Queen City Tournament

hi guys
i was talking to Richard, the guy from Queen City. His 38 above tournament is from Friday 28.of APRIL... until Monday (Holiday) May.1. Its a 11 aside full field tournament and it means that we need at least 13 to 15 player. the pitches are in ayala and san carlos.
There is 1 remaining slot and the board of our club agreed that we should participate if we can form a team. the fee is 5000 peso- payed from the club- and the prizemoney to win is 15.000 peso. i will get an application form this week.
so please guys above 38...say with a clear yes or no if you will play. Additional i will go to Moalboal this Thuersday and check if some of this guys will join us at this tournament. I believe that we would need everybody over 38 to join. i called Heiko, he turnes 38 on April 25. and will fly in from china to join us...thats teamspirit...
so please let me know soon as possible via blogg or email if you will join.
see you..

Dutch and German the brainiest!

Scientific proof of common knowledge! A new European league of 'country averaged' IQ scores, very recently developed by the University of Ulster, has ranked the German and Dutch ahead of all other European countries.

Professor Lynn, who caused controversy last year by claiming that men were more intelligent than women by about five IQ points on average, said that populations in the colder, more challenging environments of Northern Europe had developed larger brains than those in warmer climates further south. The average brain size in Northern and Central Europe is 1,320 cc and in southeast Europe it is 1,312 cc. “The early human beings in northerly areas had to survive during cold winters when there were no plant foods and they were forced to hunt big game,” he said. “The main environmental influence on IQ is diet, and people in southeast Europe would have had less of the proteins, minerals and vitamins provided by meat which are essential for brain development.”

It is for this reason that we all should be incredibly thankful that the management (president, vice-president and treasurer) of our XP Cebu International Soccer Club remains under full Dutch and German control! Moreover, the 0.08 cc difference in brain volume is of course also very visible on the soccer pitch. Just watch the oftentimes brilliant strategic and tactical play by the Dutch and German players. Must be a great honour to play with them!

Panglao Trip

hi guys
when i approached the players yesterday about our panglao trip there was very little interest
about this outing. therefore i didnt receive any downpayment. since its highseason we have to make a booking and a downpayment, otherwise no rooms. so please guys let us know with a clear yes or no, not with a "maybe". so read the blogg about the proposed schedule and give a feedback soon as possible this coming week.
Finally i bougth goalnets...as you could see yesterday. "filipino standardsize"..we have to learn again that the filipino standard is smaller than any other standard....
also bougth a very nice new futsal ball..
see you

March Minutes

Attendance: Horst (Chairman), Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary), Manalo, Jord, Flemming, Simon, Angelo, Rudolf and Panny (members)

So the free beer 'won the day' with a great turn-out of players for the meeting. Well done guys, nice to see you all and to cap it all your secretary has produced the minutes the following morning! ....
  1. Otto has been instructed, again, to purchase nets for the goals at Timex at a cost of P1,400
  2. We have a provisional date of April 8th for the Panglao, family trip. Downpayment of P1000, is needed by March 25th.
  3. Horst has followed-up his approach to the Moalboal team for a game of football here in Cebu. He is targeting March 25th for the game but will confirm latter. We will probably have a BBQ after the game followed by some extra curicular activities. Otto will scout what's available.
  4. Our Finance Manager informed us that we had P15,920 in the bank.
  5. Peter has asked for support with bringing over 300 pairs of football boots and shirts from the Netherlands to the Philippines. These will be donated to 'needy' children. We will refer Peter to Mark, Vice Chairman, Cebu FC who we believe will be in a btter position to help.
  6. There is a 38+ tournament promoted in the Sun Star by Queen City to be held in April. Simon will check-out the legitamcy of this story this weekend and report.
  7. Vice Chairman Albert is, with a great deal of regret, leaving the Philippines on the completion of his contract. He will be missed. As such we looked for his successor, which after a great deal of heart searching and freedom of the secretary writting the notes (you see the English do have some control) Panny has accepted the position. However, Angelo will maintain the Blog given Panny's limited abilities with technology.
  8. Albert, leaving in June, will be organising a 'World Cup Betting Syndicate' and will be posting details shortly.
  9. A name change for the club was mutted with a change from 'soccer' to 'football', but there was not enough interest to drive this through...
  10. If you get time please give a thought to Jacob who is presently in Chong Hua Hospital, room 709 after badly damaging his knee whilst playing football on Wednesday evening.

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

February minutes

Attendance: Horst (Chairman), Albert (Vice Chairman), Otto (Finance Manager), Tony (Secretary)

The meeting, in truth, was brief with only the following points discussed:
  1. Otto is still looking to purchase nets for the goals at Timex. He has already purchased extra soccer ball for futsall.
  2. It is still hoped that Franz will organize a trip to Panglao but dates will need to be agreed
  3. Horst approached the Moalboal team for a game of football here in Cebu and is awaiting a response on available dates.
  4. Otto commented that Wednesday football at the Shangrala was going well with ten people in attendance.
  5. The Finance Manager informed us that we had P10,320 in the bank
  6. A new design of 'figure hugging' football strip in yellow with pink, polkadot spots similar to that of the climbers jersey in the "Tour de France" has been mutted. Your comments appreciated.

Monthly meeting - follow-up

First of all I think it is a brilliant idea to sponsor the meetings through some free beer. Hope it will result in some more active input for the club.

Secondly, we are still awaiting the minutes of the last meeting (Tony, please post them directly on the blog as I and Angelo still try to retrieve the password to our FTP site).

Some additional (to Otto's tournament topic) agenda suggestions:
- Who will take over from me after May? I need e.g. some time to transfer the website stuff.
- Outings to Panglao and Malapasqua, etc.
- Set up of a pool for the World Championship with e.g. daily score card overview in our XP lounge. Who will organize it and how?

Hope to see you all Thursday night!!!!!

TV coverage for World Cup

Hi guys,

If like me you were getting nervous about where you were going to watch the World Cup then worry no more. I wrote an email to 'Solar Sports' and got a favourable response. I have copied the email below and will chase them again in a couple of weeks to see if they have a final schedule.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for your interest in watching our channels. You are right to assume that we have the right for the World Cup. As of now, we are still finalizing on how to show the games on our channels. There might be and extra channel to get all 64 games and we might air some on Sports Plus. But you can expect that all 64 games will be available here in the Philippines. In the meantime, we are airing several shows that are related to the world cup… we’re airing the Gillette World Cup Preview Series every tuesdays @ 10Pm starting feb 28 and the FIFA World Cup Series every friday @ 9PM. Hope you enjoy our coverage of the world cup. Have a nice day!

Welcome to new players

As understood some new players have arrived shortly before the world championship: Daniel de Dios (Spanish) and Patrick Astudillo (Irish). Also, Jeremy from Trinidad & Tobago (most likely trained by good old Leo Beenhakker) will join. Flemming introduced some new Danish players and Joseph Pinto brought along 2 Spanish players (Jordi + Raul) who also will play on Wednesdays in Shang. So, please Conor, Flemming, Joseph and others send me complete names so they can be added to the Timex list. Hope Bob's secretary will wake up again and update the players list this time.

apparently the christmas break was too long. the majority wants to play this coming saturday in timex even though we have the thirsty cup tournament on sunday. therefore we better take it easy and use it as a light warm up for the team only. also, we should sit together and talk things over and get prepared for the sunday tournament, because on sunday morning there will be no more time left to get things settled. the first XP-game starts at 7.50 am already. so, better go to bed early, because voluntarely i will roam all bars and clubs on saturday night, not for the fun of it but in order to check on the players' curfew which is 11pm !!!

happy new year

first of all i want to wish each and everyone a happy soccer year and more trophies to come.

one of these trophies is at stake coming january 8 - the 'thirsty cup', where we are cup defenders. we are invited by the organizers of the 'thirsty football festival' to come to their launching party on the 4 th of january, 8 pm in bright academy. there will be prizes for a juggling cometion, football-playstation competion, best in football attire etc. also the schedule of games will be given out by the organizers. so,if you are free, just go there. you can bring the kids, too.

since we play the tournament this coming sunday, we probably do not play our regular saturday afternoon game in timex. or what do you think?
